Learn Kurdish !

This is the first post. I try to get as many bloggers to help me out on this. There are no real resources for learning Kurdish on the net. So for that reason, this blog will be dedicated to give some basic lessons of the Kurdish language for those who might visit Kurdistan and want to learn a few basics of the Kurdish language.

I speak the Sorani dialect so I am expecting help from those who speak the other Kurdish dialects.

  • Great to see you writing in sorani, but why don't you team up with another blogger online and write in Kurmanji, zazaki and so forth so that all kurds can come here as one and unite instead of having language barriers and making this a sorani language zone only.

    Red Kurdistan (located between Azerbaijan and Armenia) living in the USA. The problem is I dont speak any Kurdish as a result of brainwashing I have undergone like many others.   • i am a kurd from North kurdistan,i speak kurmanji,but as sorani is growing on internet ant other media organs and because is the dialect of the only free part of kurdistan,i want to learn sorani dialect.soranî is very close to kurmanjî dialect so much that a kurmanj can easily spend days beetween soranî speakers.I couldnt find any books in Turkey that teachs Soranî.and couldnt fine any site that teach soranî for english speakers or kurmanji speakers.
    i hope you or somene else do a very comprehensive site.

  • I am a beginner in Sorani, hope you will help me out! I know some basic words and expressions afetr my first visit to Kurdistan, but want to learn more as I am going there agai. My biggest problem is understanding and being able to pronounce form Latin scription. Looks that there are many versions and my Kurdish friends as well as electronic manuals take especially vowels quite feely. Help!
